Rockingham County Fair Master Plan

Rockingham County Fair Master Plan

Rockingham County Fair

Harrisonburg, Virginia

The Rockingham County Fairgrounds is one of the most successful fairs in the State of Virginia and has the potential of expanding into a growing regional market. The vision of the fair is to become the premier and pre-eminent regional fair in the Commonwealth of Virginia. To that end they chose to review their facilities and undergo an extensive master plan study. The resultant plan included 160,000 SF of proposed new structures: an Exhibition Building w/Exhibit Hall, Livestock/Arena Building, Equine Center, and Open Air Covered Events Venue.

The multi-phased plan is set up to be accomplished over the next 5-10 years. To achieve this, the interior and perimeter circulation of the grounds was reorganized focusing on image enhancement and accessibility while maintaining as much of the existing infrastructure as is reasonable.
